What Is Red Dead Redemption 2?

Story and Background

This epic tale takes place in five fictional states of western North America, at the end of the 19th century. In this context, the Van der Linde gang decides to gain enough money to escape from the law and retire.

To do this, the gang needs to rob several banks in different cities of the states. In the process of robbing a bank in Saint-Denis, John Marston is arrested. The gang is committed to saving their comrade.

Arthur is diagnosed with tuberculosis, so he thinks about protecting the gang after he leaves. The brotherhood between Arthur and Dutch, the boss, is broken when the latter leaves John for Dead and refuses to rescue Abigail when she’s taken.

After resolving the conflict, Dutch abandons the gang. If Arthur has a high Honor at this point, he dies while watching the sunrise. If not, Micah kills him.

Gameplay and Mechanics

You can play RDR 2 from both first and third-person perspectives, as well in a single-player mode and a multiplayer mode. The latter launched in Red Dead Online. When you’re not in the middle of missions, you can freely explore the huge world and participate in fights by using melee attacks, guns, throwable objects, or explosives.

Since the map is incredibly big, you can cross the land by riding a horse. You must train a wild horse to use it or steal one. Through building a good relationship with your horse (by feeding or cleaning it) you can improve the stats of your friend. You can also use trains and stagecoaches.

The game is mainly focused on the main storyline and side quests. Certain aspects of the game will be modified by your decisions during missions. Just like the previous chapter of the saga, your actions will determine your Honor, which is a system that gives you unique benefits when reaching a good score.

Besides, it’s relevant that you keep outlaw Arthur Morgan’s health in good condition by eating and resting. Besides, his weight determines if Arthur has good resistance to damage or stamina. Also, you can take a shower to keep your body clean to look good and maintain your weapons in a decent state.
